Bridges

The RPR Induction Technology delivers fast, clean and controlled coating removal on bridges and steel structures, with no grit blasting, no water waste, and no risk of contamination to the environment below. Technology works by fast transfer of energy to the steel substrate, as a result securing a controlled heating of the surface and fast removal of most types of coatings.

Bridges present unique challenges for coating removal: complex geometries, restricted access, environmental sensitivity and the need to keep disruption to a minimum. The RPR Induction System is purpose-built to handle these conditions, making it one of the most practical and effective solutions available for bridge maintenance and recoating projects.

Operating with no grit, no water and no airborne dust, RPR induction is particularly well suited to bridges over water, roads or environmentally protected areas, where contamination control is critical. Coatings are released cleanly and collected directly, with no media waste to manage or dispose of.

The system’s flexible working distance of up to 100m from the main unit allows operators to reach difficult sections efficiently, while its quiet and low-pressure operation minimises disruption to traffic and surrounding areas. Whether removing aged paint systems, epoxy coatings or thick protective linings, RPR delivers consistent results across all bridge steelwork.

Why Use RPR Technologies

HIGHER STRIPPING RATES

Engineered with various induction heads for challenging geometry steel sections, rivets encountered on many Steel bridge structures

MINIMISED WASTE DISPOSAL

No grit or water media added, eliminating the need for transport and disposal.

ENVIRONMENT

75% less energy consumption with zero grit or water deposits left behind.

OPERATOR FRIENDLY

Safe, quiet, and low-dust operation with minimal protective gear required.

FLEXIBLE REACH

Low-noise, low-dust process lets other trades work safely in parallel, reducing asset outage time.

Resulting from a project called Green Tank, co-funded by the European Commission; RPR Technologies now offers optimized solutions for coatings removal in storage tanks. Combining a patented induction technology and elements of semi-automatic platforms, the RPR Induction Coatings Removal System has proven to be twice as efficient as other methods.

Mounted to an electric trolley with vertical support, the system is ideal for removal of difficult coatings on tank floors and the lower wall section, securing a consistent result and alleviating workload for the operators. After heating the coating is scraped off in stripes that is easily collected and transported for disposal, offering considerable environmental savings in logistics and waste handling.
